Lasam continues to banner its Natalged spirit as Lasameño athletes of all ages take on the spotlight in various sporting events to kickstart year 2024.
APONG VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE. The Lasam Volleyball Club Federation of Lasam is making some noise in the 2023-2024 edition of the Apong Volleyball League: All Cagayano Conference.
Consisting of veteran players that competed in the prestigious regional and national sport meets mixed with rising stars from the young hitters of secondary schools in the municipality, the LVCF Men's team is currently on a roll as they secured their spot in the Quarter Finals of the tournament.
Finishing the elimination round with a dub over Enrile, they will now face Claveria, Iguig, and Amulung while the other bracket is composed of Tuguegarao, Solana, Peñablanca, and Gonzaga. It will be a tough hill to climb for Lasam but their are very optimistic to reign supreme and bring home the crown.
CAGAYAN PROVINCIAL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION MEET. Coming to the provincial meet, the Lasam delegation was the dark horse but managed to secure the second spot in the final medal tally of the recently concluded 2024 CPAA Meet held in Allacapan, Cagayan.
The young Lasameño athletes garnered a total of 43 golds, 38 silvers, and 42 bronzes, enough to overtake the neighboring Municipality of Lal-lo and finishing second place after the Municipality of Amulung that took the overall, defending champion bragging rights with 56 golds, 15 silvers, and 16 bronzes.
This was one of the most brilliant performances of the delegation in the past years as they also got this year's 2nd Most Improved Municipality and Malakas Award.
The leadership of Municipal Mayor Dante Dexter A. Agatep and newly-appointed District Supervisor Dr. Francisco S. Conag played a vital role in the success of the municipality in the provincial level. They will also be rooting for the athletes who will represent the delegation of Division of Cagayan in the Cagayan Valley Regional Athletic Association.
DANDEX INTER-AGENCY BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT. The Inter-Agency Basketball has also kickstarted to open up the year for the respective agencies; Bureau of Fire, DepEd Matatag, DPWH-Health, LGU-Natalged, PNP-Tagapagtanggol, and Philippine Army Wildcats on January 27, 2024.
With its aim to strengthen the unity among the agencies, Municipal Mayor Dante Dexter Agatep also reminded the teams with his all-out support for the development of sports in Natalged A Lasam.
Mayor Agatep and Vice Mayor Randy Cambe spoke on the rationale and relevance of the DANDEX CUP, alongside Public Information and Sports Officer Renato R. Paat, Jr and SK Federation President Jilton B. Pascual during the opening of the said tournament.
2024 DANDEX CUP U-22 TOURNAMENT. Driven to its commitment to continue the "Magbola Huwag Magdroga" campaign, Mayor Dante Dexter Agatep opened once again the avenue for the young cagers of Lasam with the 2024 DANDEX CUP U-22 Tournament on February 10, 2024 at the Natalged A Lasam Arena.
Newly-elected SK Officials of the 30 barangays have conducted their respective qualifiers. The tournament is now on its third season with the collaboration from the Lasam Basketball Referees Association headed by LBRA President Jerome Domingo.
