O Ili Mi A Lasam @ 76: Of Reconnections and Reminiscenses

June 21, 2026

If you are a true-blue Lasameño, your social media feed should be awash with photos and videos of the recent Municipal events or gatherings, highlighted by the observance of the 76th Year Anniversary of Aldaw Ti Lasam, last June 13.

Here’s a run down of the festivities, made more special by the return-to-roots among fellow Lasameños, from within or beyond our shores:

Held on June 5th, the WCSAT GRAND ALUMNI HOMECOMING kicked-off with a motorcade that became the norm for the succeeding similar events, as earlier planned for the 76th Aldaw ti Lasam Parada ng Bayan. The night of festivities would end-up to the alumni's heartwarming mass singing of Rod Stewart's classic, "Auld Lang Syne".

Lasameño balikbayans began showing up at the preemptive ALDAW TI LASAM THURSDAY JAM held at the Natalged Park, evening of June 11.

LGU and DepEd-Lasam have jointly staged fairly elaborate Independence Day Celebrations in the past. This year, business leaders and balikbayans also took part in the early morning 128th INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION at the Natalged Park.

Held in cooperation with the Freemasons of Lasam, of which Mayor Dante Dexter A. Agatep is also an active leader, his Mason brother Ballesteros Mayor and Mrs. Robert H. Ogalino, MD were also in attendance.

LASAM CENTRAL SCHOOL GRAND ALUMNI HOMECOMING. As the last minute venue due the heat if it were held outdoors, the Natalged A Lasam Arena (NALA) became the “playground” for the LCS alumni for a day. The thousand-strong participants capped their homecoming by crowning five alumni queens.

76th ALDAW TI LASAM. Modest but memorable characterizes the celebration of the 76th Year Founding Anniversary of the Municipality of Lasam, sans the Bayle sa Kalye street spectacle, or the perennial beauty pageant crowd-drawer. It started with a THANKSGIVING MASS at the St. Isidore Parish Church, officiated by Rev. Fr. Julius M. Teaño—well-attended among LGU officials and employees.

The display of Lasameño community spirit was overwhelming during the MOTORCADE AROUND TOWN, despite the sudden downpour—an awaited blessing Lasam being an agricultural town.

The ensuing COMMUNITY NIGHT at the Natalged Arena was a celebration replete with singing and dancing.

The multi-sectoral dance-revo number, spearheaded by the LGU officials, induced wider participation, especially among the balikbayan guests.

The raffle draws in between gave every registered participant a chance to bring home a token from the evening of 76th Aldaw Ti Lasam festivities, punctuated by a colorful fireworks show.

The 5th LA GRAND ALUMNI HOMECOMING last Sunday was indeed a grand assembly of batches across the institution’s 75th year history. As a surprise, the Mayor's Batch '89 even came up with a danceable "Top of the World Feels" jingle that got every one on their feet regardless of batch-year. Then, their own rendition of "Auld Lang Syne" was so heartfelt, some became emotional, if not tearful.

By virtue of RA 7788, Aldaw Ti Lasam is a Special Non-working Holiday and this year being on a Saturday, Mayor Agatep in a Memorandum, granted all local offices a statutory day-off on Monday, June 15.

Beyond LGU’s own and the three Grand Alumni Homecoming events in the Municipality this June 2026, get-togethers are still taking place for more reconnections among Lasameños, partake of good ol' reminiscences.#
