Mayor Agatep Accepts First SGLG Award for Lasam

Mayor Dante Dexter A. Agatep, Jr. has just formally accepted yet another award for the Municipality of Lasam — the highly coveted Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) on December 14, 2022.

The first SGLG Award for the municipality was presented by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Sec. Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos, Jr. with the presence of Assistant Secretaries and Undersecretaries at the Fiesta Pavilion of Manila Hotel.

Administered by different executive branches of the national government led by the DILG, the SGLG recognizes good performance of provinces, cities, and municipalities as Local Government Units (LGUs).

The 10 criteria for earning the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).

An SGLG awardee must pass ten criteria namely: transparency and accountability in use of public funds; disaster readiness; programs for social protection, health and education; investment promotion; general safety; environmental protection; as well as programs for tourism, arts, culture; and youth development.

Together with Mayor Agatep at the 2022 SGLG Awards are: Lasam-LGU Information Officer Renato "Bongpy" Paat, Jr., Municipal Planning and Development Officer Rodel Urian, Municipal Local Government Officer Reenei Heidy C. Tollo, and Municipal Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Officer Rudy Urian, Jr.

The SGLG rewards LGUs for their efforts in pursuing general welfare of their constituency and in enforcing existing laws. As a first time municipal SGLG awardee, LGU-Lasam will receive an incentive fund subsidy of 5 million pesos which will serve as a performance challenge fund to augment its 2023 budget for infrastructure development program.

The SGLG award for Lasam comes with a Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) in the amount of five million pesos.

LGU-Lasam underwent a thorough audit conducted by the DILG last September with the 2022 SGLG results released to the public in late October.

For SGLG awardees in the municipality category, Lasam is among the 10 municipalities honored from the province of Cagayan. The other nine are Alcala, Allacapan, Camalaniugan, Gonzaga, Iguig, Lallo, Sta. Teresita, Sanchez Mira, and Solana.

Mayor Agatep wishes to congratulate and thank every one who has contributed in making this possible for Natalged a Lasam. The chief executive also enjoins all stakeholders in working together in the pursuit of maintaining the LGU-Lasam Seal of Good Local Governance for 2023. #
