It's the tenth year that fun-loving Lasameños are staging the Tinupig, formerly Aringay Festival. And, this year is momentous and the biggest by far, as it is also the celebration of the Diamond Founding Anniversary of the Municipality of Lasam. A storied 75 years have passed since President Elpidio C. Quirino signed Republic Act 507, which paved the way for the founding of the Municipality that Lasameños call home.
Lasam's annual town fiesta, the Tinupig Festival, is special this year, as it features various events designed for the enjoyment of 50,000 Lasameños and in-person visitors.

To kick-off the festivities, TUGTUGAN SA PARKE was launched, which now attracts patrons every Friday. To champion inclusivity and June being the pride month, MISS GAY LASAM takes place on May 31st.
Among local shutters, a CULTURE, LIFESTYLE, AND TOURISM PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST is on-going and the entries are on display at the Municipal Hall lobby.
June 1-6: AGRI-WEEK. Bilang umuunlad na bayang agrikultural, marapat bigyang-importansiya ang kapakanan at kasiyahan ng ating magsasaka. May FARMERS' DAY sa Day 6. Inaanyayahan ang concerned sa Natalged a Lasam Arena upang pakinggan at makisaya sa agriculture sector, ang backbone ng ekonomiya ng munisipalidad.
June 1-7: Catering varied interests, a week-long SPORTSTRAVANZA takes place at the Natalged Park and other venues.
June 6 AM: FUN WALK. Come in your fantabulous outfits and walk the concrete ramp from Tinupigan to Natalged Park. If you get lingering looks from head to toe, you will be rewarded for sure.

Idinaos ang pangalawang State of the Municipality Address ni Mayor Dante Dexter A. Agatep, Jr., umaga ng January 20, 2025, sa Natalged A Lasam Arena. Dinaluhan ito ng kanyang malapit na pamilya, kabuuan ng officials at mga kawani ng Municipal Local Government Unit of Lasam, barangay at Sangguniang Kabataan officials, kinatawan ng national government agencies, at iba't ibang organisasyon.
Binalangkas ang kanyang SOMA base sa functionalities ng LGU. Iniulat ng Alkalde ang kalagayan at mga hamon sa Munisipalidad sa nagdaang limang taon matapos ang kanyang unang SOMA noong January 27, 2020, kaya umabot sa dalawa at kalahating oras ang kanyang pagtatalumpati. Ibinahagi rin niya ang kanyang mga susunod pang action o hakbangin.
Inumpisahan ni Mayor Agatep ang kanyang speech sa pagbibigay-halaga sa transparency at panghihikayat sa stakeholder participation bago niya isa-isang inilahad ang departmental accomplishments na suportado ng datos at photos. Umani ng pagtanggap at masigabong palakpakanan ang sumusunod.
Pangunahin ang infrastructure development: mga kalsada at tulay na sadyang mahalaga sa pag-unlad ng ekonomiya at pagpaparating ng sari-saring serbisyo sa mga barangay.
Pinalakpakan ang pagtatapos ng Natalged Arena, bagong public market building, ang tinatapos na mas malaking slaughterhouse sa Minanga Sur, ang pagpapalaki sa Municipal Town Hall, ang Natalged Park, at children’s playground sa tabi nito. Inilagak din niya ang ilang “in the can” projects tulad ng isang activity center, learning hub, at tourism facilities.
Kinasiyahan din ang pagbibigay importansiya sa human capital sa pamamagitan ng tuloy-tuloy na human resource o skills development sa iba’t ibang larangan, lalung-lalo na sa agrikultura bilang ito ang backbone ng ekonomiya ng Munisipalidad.
Ibinida rin ng Alkalde ang pag-usad sa data-driven LGU operation; ang high-tech na pagkalap ng datos para sa well-informed decisions ng Municipal Planning and Development Office at ang Natalged ACCESS o Advanced monitoring Command and Coordination center for Emergency, Security and Safety of Lasameños, para sa crime prevention at disaster management ng Municipal Disaster Risk and Management Office.
Isinunod ng Local Chief Executive ang pagbanggit sa national recognitions sa disaster management, health, literacy, social services programs. Ang lahat ng mga ito ay contributory sa pagkakamit ng Seal of Good Local Governance para sa Bayan ng Lasam noong 2022 at nito lang 2024.
Pinakamalakas ang palakpak nang banggitin niya ang pagtalon ng economic class ng Bayan ng Lasam bilang isa ng First Class Municipality simula ngayong 2025, mula sa pagiging Third Class lamang. Bunga ito ng combined efforts ng Business Permit Licensing, Local Civil Registry, Municipal Assessors, Planning and Development, at Treasury offices at bunsod ng magandang business climate sa Munisipalidad.
Sa kanyang pagtatapos, naging emosyonal ang Alkalde nang sabihing maaaring may pagkukulang man siya bilang isang leader ngunit nais pa niyang maglingkod at patunayang may magagawa pa rin siya para sa Bayang NATALGED A LASAM.#

Nito lamang October 2024, idinaos ang isang Early Childhood Care and Development Workshop para sa lahat ng child development workers ng Munisipalidad. Layunin ng two-day seminar na ma-equip or ma-familiarize ang CDWs sa bagong ECCD system at Early Learning Curriculum.
At noong June, nag-take part din ang CDWs sa two-day Reading Aloud Seminar with resource speakers from the UP-Diliman College of Education upang mas ma-enganyo nila ang kanilang learners sa mga kwentong pambata at maging mapag-basa para sa functional literacy development.

Sa elderly o senior citizens naman, katuwang ng MSWDO and Office of Senior Citizens Affairs, headed by Mrs. Grace A. Farinas upang bigyan ng kaparehong attention ang sector na ito.
Masigla ang komunidad ng senior citizens ng Bayang Lasam. Makikita ito sa regular nilang mga gathering. Sa parehong rekomendasyon nina Mrs. Macaspac at Mrs. Farinas, nakapagdudulot din ng kasiyahan ang programang Pa-Birthday Handog sa mga Senior Citizen. Hindi man taun-taon, may munting sorpresa ang LGU kina Lolo at Lola kung saan nauunang maregaluhan ang mas nakatatanda.
Sinisikap ng LGU-MSWDO na ma-address ang mga concern ng bata at matatandang constituents sa pamamagitan ng sari-saring projects, programs or activities para kina Mae-Mae, Jun-Jun, Lola Maria at Lolo Inggo, alinsunod sa pagbibigay access to social services dito sa Bayang Natalged a Lasam.#

Habang patuloy na inaatupag ng pamunuan ng Local Government Unit of Lasam ang iba't ibang infrastructure projects, sabay din ang pagbibigay atensyon sa mga napapanahong pangangailangan ng mas maraming Lasameño. Dinadala ng LGU-Lasam sa iba’t ibang barangay ang sumusunod na serbisyo publiko.
DENTAL AT MEDICAL MISSION. Tuwing nagbabago ang panahon o temperatura, saka dumarami ang sakit. Bunsod nito, pinag-iibayo ng LGU, sa pamamagitan ng Rural Healh Unit, ang serbisyong pangkalusugan kaya nagdadaos ito ng health mission sa mga barangay. Katatapos lamang ang Dental at Medical Mission sa Nabannagan at Cabatacan West. Susunod na gaganapin ito sa isa o dalawang Riverside barangays.
LIVELIHOOD DEVELOPMENT. Maraming mga barangay ang may nag-uumpisa o mayroong ongoing livelihood development program. Nitong huli, ini-launch lamang ang livelihood project ng Jubilant SLP Association ng Tucalan Passing. Sa Magsaysay naman, kauumpisa ng Sagguniang Kabataan ng kanilang hydroponics lettuce at mushroom growing. Ang mga ito ay initiated or may all-out support ng LGU .
FARM TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE. Ngayong second rice cropping, ilang mga barangay ang nagpaabot ng suliranin at nanghihingi ng assistance tungkol sa infestation sa mga sakahan. Matapos ang coordination sa Municipal Agricultural Services Office, pinupuntahan ng Agri-Lasam agriculturists at farm technicians ang mga rice farmer na may problema sa kanilang sakahan. Tinitiyak ito ng LGU bilang ang Lasam ay isang bayang agricultural.
GEN Z HEALTH SYMPOSIUM. Binibigyang priority ng LGU ang total adolescent well-being. Iniisa-isang pinupuntahan ng Municipal Health Office ang mga high school, kabilang ang CSU-Lasam, upang mag-conduct ng symposium at maki-relate sa Gen Z Lasameños. Hangarin ng symposium na ma-orient o mapaalalahanan ang mga itong maging self-responsible upang makaiwas sa adolescent life crises by advocating emotional and mental health. Pinakahuli itong ginanap sa Nabannagan NHS nitong September 18, 2024.
FEED THE BODY, FEED THE MIND. Sa pamamagitan ng Natalged Reading and Storytelling Caravan, pumupunta ang literacy team ng LGU-Lasam sa mga barangay upang mag-kwento nang maenganyo ang young Lasameños na magbasa alang-alang sa functional literacy development. Magtutungo ang Reading and Storytelling Caravan sa Tagao nitong September 23.
BDRRMC SUPERVISION. Para sa kaligtasan ng lahat ng Lasameño sa panahon ng sakuna, nakaalalay ang Municipal Disaster Risk and Reduction Office sa BDRRMC counterpart nito sa bawat barangay. In times of emergency rescue, gamit na gamit ang Disaster Aksyon Agad emergency vehicle na ipinamahagi ng LGU sa mga naunang nabigyang barangay.

Gaya nang pagsaliw sa kumpas ng isang sayaw, nakikisabay sa pagsusulong ng iba’t ibang adhikain ng NATALGED A LASAM ang Local Women Council.
Co-chaired by Head of Legislative Committees for Agriculture and Social Services, SB Lilibeth B. del Rosario, binubuo ang Natalged Women Council ng multi-sectoral women leaders mula business, education o health at represented din ang bawat 30 barangays. Being the Local Chief Executive, si Mayor Dante Dexter A. Agatep, Jr. ang Council Chair.
Katuwang ng Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Mrs. Nenita D. Macaspac ang Natalged Women Council sa pagkakaroon ng access to social services hindi lang para sa family, women and children, PWDs o Senior Citizens, kundi ng mas maraming Lasameño.
Kung susuriin itong Natalged A Lasam Development Goal Pillars na siyang gabay o battlecry ng pamunuan ni Mayor Agatep, sinisikap ang wholistic na pagtataguyod nito ng Natalged Women sa pamamagitan ng aktibong partisipasyon sa:
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT. Magdadalawang taon nang pinangungunahan ng Natalged Women ang pagbibigay importansiya sa kapakanan at karapatan ng mga Lasameña. Isinasakatuparan ito sa pagdadaos ng masisiglang gathering gaya ng nakaraang Women Empowerment Seminar at International Women’s Day last March.
LIVELIHOOD DEVELOPMENT. Ilaw man ng tahanan ang pangunahing turing sa mga Nanay, hinihikayat ang mga ito ng Natalged Women Council upang magkaroon ng livelihood. Ngayon, ilang mga barangay ang may sustainable livelihood projects para sa mga kababaihan.
KALINISAN AT HAPAG SA BAGONG PILIPINAS. As expected, malaki ang partisipasyon ng Natalged Women para sa kalinisan sa bawat sona ng mga barangay. EARLY AT INCLUSIVE EDUCATION. Majority pa rin ang women educators kung kaya may tutok na atensyon sa early childhood education and nutrition. Sinisikap din ng Natalged Women kung paano mas mapabilang ang mga differently-able sa normal schooling.
PWD RIGHTS. Sa halos 1,000 documented Persons With Disabilities dito sa Bayang Lasam, katuwang ang Natalged Women in championing the rights and welfare of Lasameño PWDs.
ANTI-VAWC. Sa mga information drive o pagtatalakay kung paano mapangalagaan o maproteksyunan ang mga vulnerable women and children laban sa karahasan, pumapagitna palagi ang Natalged Women.
Ilan lamang ang mga ito sa mga aktibong involvement ng Natalged Women para sa wholistic community development, alinsunod sa mga adhikain para sa bayang NATALGED A LASAM.

After a series of meetings leading to the finalization by the LGU-Management Committee, as recently convened by Mayor Dante Dexter A. Agatep, Jr., here are the final events of the Lasam Town Fiesta 2024.
Saturday, June 8. The festivities are off to a healthy start with the usual FUN RUN, but now with a good CAUSE; gunstart at sunrise will be from the Cataliganan Ecopark. COLOR FUN RUN was only one of the many 2023 Tinupig Festival sports events, after all the pandemic limitations that we went through then.
The OPENING PARADE happens before sunset; then all barangay contingents converge at the Lasam Town Center for the BAYLE SA KALYE showdown.
Sunday, June 9. The Natalged A Lasam Arena, as it was in the COOKFEST SEASON 1 last year, transforms into one giant kitchen anew for COOKFEST SEASON 2. Come and watch how the Tinupig delicacy is elevated in flavor. Tastings may be offered for free.

Ang social service program na “Pagkain sa Mesa Para Kay Lolo at Lola,” ni Congresswoman Baby Aline Vargas Alfonso, ay naglalayong mabigyan ng assistance ang lahat ng senior citizens dito sa Second District of Cagayan na kanyang nasasakupan.
Sa gathering ng mga Nanang, Tatang, Lolo, at Lola sa pitong lokasyon dito sa Bayan ng Lasam, nagkaroon din ng pagkakataon ang Diputadong ilahad ang sari-saring social welfare programs ng kanyang opisina upang mabigyang atensyon ang lahat ng sector ng kanyang constituents.
Sinusugan ito ni Mayor Dante Dexter A. Agatep, Jr. at lubos ang pagpapasalamat sa maraming projects at programs ni Rep. Vargas Alfonso rito sa Bayan ng Lasam.
Pinasalamatan din niya ang assistance ng opisina ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez at ni LPGMA Partylist Rep. Allan U. Ty, na dumating sa unang araw ng payout.

At last, the Centro Uno Tapas claimed the elusive U-22 throne.
After a back-to-back demise in their second-straight finals trip, Centro Uno Tapas won't be denied for the third time around as they finally took home their first Interbarangay U-22 championship against Nabannagan West, 43-37, in their thrilling encounter at the Natalged A Lasam Arena, April 13.
This will be Centro Uno's first championship tilt after losing to the Sicalao Panthers in the first and second seasons of the tournament.
Both squads were locked up on the defensive side resulting in a low-scoring game but Tapas once again picked up the pace in the fourth to eventually escape the Nabannagan cagers.
Nabannagan held a 20-12 advantage going into the second half led by their forward Sandrex Antonio as he dominated the paint.
However, the momentum quickly changed in the third when West's center Dhan Chester Carse suffered a back-breaking knee injury that completely depleted the interior defense of Nabannagan.
From then, all-star guard Michael Bisquera capitalized with his fastbreak layups followed by an and-one finish by Jerson Atienza to trim down the lead to one, 32-31.
Tapas then stole the lead in the fourth in the last two minutes as Atienza knocked down a big jumpshot, 37-34, as West was desperate to retaliate.
With their back against the wall, Antonio was there to rescue as he countered with a crucial offensive putback and-one to tie all things around at 37-37 apiece.
But the hungriness of Tapas to end the series took over as Atienza converted a swift lefty layup, 39-37, followed by a dagger three by their court general Walther Visquera, 43-37 in the last 1:00 mark of the penultimate quarter.

Ang paglulunsad ng KADIWA NG PANGULO dito sa Natalged Park, dito sa ating bayan, ay hindi lamang pakikiisa sa pag-revive ng KADIWAng inumpisahan pa ng dating Pangulong Ferdinand E. Marcos. Hindi na nga bago sa ating pandinig ang salitang KADIWA sapagkat nagkaroon na nito noon. Ang pagpapanumbalik nito ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. ay tanda ng pagbibigay halaga sa sektor ng agrikultura.
At dahil ang Lasam ay isang agricultural municipality, akmang-akma at mainam ang pagkakaroon ng KADIWA upang mabigyan ng oportunidad ang kababayan nating mga magsasakang makapagbenta ng maayos, lalung-lalo kung tatangkilikin ito ng nakararaming consumers.
Kaya’t ang KADIWA ay hindi lamang para sa pinag-iibayong suporta sa Lasameño farmers. Ang pagkakaroon ng KADIWA ay para rin sa kapakanan ng mas maraming consumers o mamimili. Kung ididiretso ng sinumang may produkto ang kanilang paninda sa KADIWA, mas kontrolado ang presyo. Samakatuwid, dahil sa pagkakaroon KADIWA, parehong bentahe ang farmers at consumers.
Sa pagkakataong ito, nais kong ipaalam o i-remind ang adhikaing AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTIVITY at FOOD SECURITY base sa ating NATALGED A LASAM DEVELOPMENT GOAL PILLARS, na siyang gabay natin sa iba’t ibang programs, projects, and activities ng ating pamunuan.
At nais ko rin kayong tanungin mga kapwa ko magsasakang Lasameño, kayong mga stakeholders: may ikagaganda pa ba ang ating mga programa o gawaing pang-agrikultura? Anong inobasyon o improvement ang pwede pa nating gawin upang mapalaki ang kita ng rice, corn farmers, mga nagtatanim ng gulay, cacao, niyog...Halimbawa na lamang ang pagtatanim ng mga gulay Baguio na napakamahal pagdating dito sa atin dahil sa transportation costs.
Hinahamon ko kayong magsumikap tungo sa crop diversification o pagpaparami ng uri ng pananim o agricultural products. Subukan ang intercopping o multi-cropping, upang mapaganda pa ang agricultural productivity; upang masigurado ang sapat na pagkain--ang FOOD SECURITY dito sa ating bayan.
Hangad kong sa paglaon, mas maraming produkto ang dadalhin sa ating KADIWA, sa ating SARILING FARMERS CENTER na ating itatayo sa Public Market. Wen kakailian, iti mabiit addan tun bukod tayu nga KADIWA wenno bagsakan kadagiti produkto tayo idiay public market.
Ipagpasalamat natin ito sa pagtutulungan ng ating Legislative Body--mga SB Members sa pangunguna ni Vice Mayor Randy Cambe at sa masugid na pag-pa follow up mismo ni SB Lilibeth del Rosario, Chairperson ti Committee on Agriculture sa Opisina ni Sen. Imee Marcos at sa DA.
Gayundin ang ibang kasamang nagsusumikap upang makapag-source tayo ng kagayang funding para sa ating mga bagong projects. Salamat din sa magkatuwang na Municipal Planning and Development at Engineering Offices na busy ngayon sa mga susunod pa nating ilulunsad.
