The Municipality of Lasam conducted an orientation for its latest batch of TUPAD beneficiaries on November 15, 2022.
The Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers or TUPAD is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed, and seasonal workers.
In a simple ceremony, Mayor Dante Dexter Agatep, Jr., called on the new recipients to perform what is expected of them to earn this benefit and that they should put value to it. “It is a timely government benefit with the Christmas season coming,” he said.
He then acknowledged Congresswoman Baby Aline Vargas-Alfonso for working towards the latest TUPAD. He also cited the contribution of Lasam-LGU’s Public Employment Office (PESO) and other staff involved.
In the orientation facilitated by Municipal Budget Officer and PESO Chair Joe Rebultan, he called on the beneficiaries to get enlisted for the specific work that they would render.
The TUPAD beneficiaries are required to render 10 days of bamboo seedling preparation or transplantation of bamboo propagules. Others will participate in community services.
The wage payment of Php 4,000 for each of the TUPAD beneficiaries will be coursed through a money remittance service.
TUPAD beneficiaries should be over 18 years-old and senior citizens may only avail of it upon submission of a medical certificate as proof that they are physically fit to work. #
