During the Project DISH with LYD Officer Gerlyn Yang, PSDS Merly Tolentino, Ph. D., LCS Principal Wilson Constantino, and the ALS trainors.
To bring about social services to more youths of Lasam, the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO), and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) have recently carried out the following projects.
Project DISH
Project DISH is a Seminar on the Production of Dishwashing Liquid Soap for 25 youths currently undertaking the Alternative Learning System (ALS) from Lasam East District. Held at the Lasam Central School last December 12, 2022, Project DISH aims to:
* Raise funds for the reproduction of ALS learner modules;
* Provide an opportunity for the ALS learners to earn and teach them the value of work; and
* Develop appreciation and importance of Technology and Livelihood Education.
Project DISH was made possible with the support of Public Schools Division Supervisor Merly Tolentino, Ph.D., Lasam Central School Principal Wilson Constantino, and the ALS teachers Edgar Medrano, Edna Vega, and Frances Gorospe.
Light Breakfast at WCSAT
LYDO is taking part in the continuing "Pa-Milo, Pa-Energen, at Pa-tinapay" at the Western Cagayan School of Arts and Trades (WCSAT) being held every Tuesday and Thursday.
This project is a response to reported situation during the Local Youth Development Council (LYDC) meeting last month wherein some WCSAT students would go to school without taking breakfast. This either because the students live far from school and would hastily leave and skip breakfast, or simply because there is no breakfast available at home.
Distribution of Sports Equipment
To engage more youth in activities for self-development and worthwhile distractions, LYDO has distributed sports equipment to the Student Supreme Governments (SSGs) of all Lasam high schools, the Cagayan State University (CSU), and to 10 priority barangays with the most number of out of school youths (OSYs).
Each of the high schools and the 10 barangays was provided a basketball, a volleyball, a badminton set, a chess board, Scrabble, and UNO card—the use of which should be administered by the SSGs or the SK.
Mayor Dante Dexter A. Agatep supports various youth development programs because he recognizes the important role of this segment of his constituency in community building—be it today or in the near future.#
