This January 15, 2023 is another milestone for the Local Government Unit of Lasam as it will be officially declared a DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE during its traditional Monday flag-raising ceremony.

As a drug-free workplace, it means that no LGU-Lasam personnel has been found a user of prohibited drugs with the random drug testing among its officials and employees last year.

LGU-Lasam submitted to the random drug testing in compliance with Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which provides for employees of public and private offices to be cleared of drug use.

As it was mandatory, LGU-Lasam officials and employees took their turns with the random drug test in spread-out schedules. The results were known a few weeks later.

LGU-Lasam being declared a drug-free workplace says a lot about the honesty and integrity of its elected officials, employees, and the rest of its personnel.

Likewise, this demonstrates the importance of realizing the goal of becoming a Drug-free Municipality, as espoused in the Natalged a Lasam Development Goal Pillars (NLDGPs).

Previously, the Philippine National Police-Lasam was also declared drug-free.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Director Levi S. Ortiz will be on-hand for the declaration, and will read the letter of commendation of the PDEA to LGU-Lasam. The drug enforcement agency is under the auspices of the Office of the President. #
