LGU-Lasam Inaugurates SBDP, SGLG Projects

January 25, 2024

The Municipality of Lasam is privileged to have been a recipient of various Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP) fundings. Under the auspices of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), these SBDP grants are spent on projects carried out after consultation with residents of the recipient-barangays.

In September last year, a series of UGNAYAN SA BARANGAY COUNCIL AT STAKEHOLDERS with Mayor Dante Dexter A. Agatep was held in various barangays. The UGNAYAN consultative meetings were also attended by other LGU officials for the leadership to be responsive to the needs of more Lasameño constituents.

At least seven infrastructure projects with costs ranging from Php1 million to Php5 million pesos were inaugurated last January 31, 2024.

DILG Assistant Regional Director Elpidio A. Durwin, CESO IV and Provincial Director Engr. Maria Loida M. Urmatam, CESE served as guests of honor.

National Intelligence and Coordinating Agency Regional Director Plormelinda P. Olet was also invited, NICA being a vital partner in the implementation of SBDP projects.

There will be roving inauguration and ribbon-cutting ceremonies for these newly-constructed infra:

* Farm to Market Road in Zone 2, Magsaysay;

* Farm to Market Road in Zone 3, Magsaysay;

* Farm to Market Road in Tucalan Passing (SGLG 2022);

* Renewable Energy-based Electrification in Cabatacan West;

* Improvement of Level II Water System in Cabatacan West (first photo);

* Upgraded Farm to Market Road in Cabatacan East; and

* New Barangay Health Station in Peru.

After the barangay on-site inauguration ceremonies, a formal turn-over program will follow at the Natalged a Lasam Arena. The Punong Barangays are to deliver their words of gratitude with some end-user testimonies.

The FMR in Tucalan Passing was financed from the cash award received by LGU-Lasam for earning its first Seal of Good Local Governance in 2022. Mayor Agatep has elected to use the SGLG fund for this project in his desire to interconnect all concrete roads within the Municipality.

Recently, three barangays have just been granted a funding of Php5 million each: New Orlins, Viga, and again, Tucalan Passing. The funding grants are earmarked for developmental projects that promote confidence in the national and local government as the recipient-barangays were previously beset by insurgency problems. #
