Natalged Women Celebrate March with a Bang

The 30-strong barangay membership of the Natalged a Lasam Council of Women converged at the WCSAT LARA Hall on March 17 to further advance their noble causes and to celebrate the National Women’s Month.

The Vice Mayor of neighboring Municipality of Lal-lo, Hon. Olive Pascual who is a staunch women advocate and a Zonta leader, was the guest speaker.

In attendance were Mayor Dante Dexter A. Agatep; Vice Mayor Randy C. Cambe; Sangguniang Bayan members Lilibeth B. del Rosario, Diocelyn B. Damatac, Emmanuel Agatep, Kasten Asuten, Federico Castro, and Rowell Constantino; as well as other men and women leaders of the town.

Lal-lo Vice Mayor Olive Pascual, a staunch women advocate and a Zonta leader, was the guest speaker; flanked by SB Member Lilibeth B. Del Rosario, Vice Mayor Randy Cambe, and Mayor Dante Dexter A. Agatep.

The afternoon started with video presentations on the strides that the Local Council of Women has been making in the following areas of community building, aligned with the Natalged a Lasam Development Goal Pillars (NLGP):

N > Natural Resources and Environment Protection

A > Agricultural Productivity

L > Livelihood

G > Good Governance

D > Drug-free Municipality

Mayor Dante Dexter A. Agatep delivered an impassioned speech: "I am extremely proud of the Natalged Women of Lasam. I feel triumphant with all the pride and honor they give Lasam. The women of Lasam are indeed limitless.”

The Mayor continued: “I assure the women sector that my administration will not waver in extending the necessary help and support for the various significant undertakings you may embark into. Please continue performing your important role in the community and causing the needed changes so that our beloved town of Lasam will continue to grow and prosper. Rest assured that I will always be here for all your endeavors. I may be a man but I believe in the women of Natalged a Lasam."

Over a thousand women came garbed in their dancing gears for the now much-talked about Line Dance Competition. A 20-30 strong members per barangay took turns in hitting the dance floor and the following emerged as the top five winners:

First Place > Centro 2; You can watch their winning performance above.
Second place> Cabatacan East
Third Place > Callao Sur
Fourth Place and Best in Costume > Ignacio Jurado
Fifth Place and Early Bird Awardee > Minanga Sur

The board of judges was composed of Police Major Efren P. Tangonan, BFP Fire Marshall Pedro M. Corpuz, Mr. Abraham A. Pigao, Jr., and Mr. Onofre P. Galapon,  both from the DepEd, and Municipal Planning and Coordinator Arch. Rodel T. Urian.
