Mayor Dante Dexter A. Agatep, Jr. is in his second term as the Chief Executive of the Local Government Unit of Lasam. He first swore into office as duly elected mayor on July 1, 2019.

Public service runs in his blood as the surname Agatep can be traced back throughout the history of Lasam. Serving others begun early for this son of then Police Lieutenant Dante Agatep, Sr. and retired teacher, Lumen Acub-Agatep.

Young DanDex served as a class officer through elementary up to high school, graduating with flying colors from Lasam Academy in 1989. He completed his degree in Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at the St. Louis University-Tuguegarao in 1996. Concurrent to his university years, he served as the Sanguniang Kabatan Federation President of Lasam from 1992.

A licensed Civil Engineer, he was first employed with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), working as an Engineering Assistant then as Construction Foreman at Cagayan Second District Engineering Office in Abulug, Cagayan.

As fate would have it, he would soon rediscover a townmate for his future First Lady, the former Rosalia Salva Tallog. The couple is blessed with three children: Dannah Paula, Dandex Jairus, and Aylah Magdalene.

Mayor DanDex is a lifetime member of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers and active with the Masons of the Philippines. The mayor has a newfound interest in farming, where he devotes his little time off.
